Hi there, My name is Matt and like many of you, I did not really think or care about my finances. I thought that I was doing better than most because I had no credit cards and my only debt was student loans. However there were a lot of student loans and despite working in a very well paying field, I never felt like I was making a dent in those loans. I thought there must be something I was doing wrong and I was right.
Thanks to my loans, I started to get into personal finance as I tried to do what these companies were doing in that they gave out a loan of x and would get returns that over the life of the loan were 10 times what they gave. I started looking for things that would sustain and grow my wealth. Things like these would be the foundation on my life if I wanted to retire early or just wanted to take time to do anything else that wasn’t going to work day in and day out.
Now I sit behind this keyboard before you:
- All student loans paid off
- 401k in full swing
- Dedicated high-interest savings account being funded
- No credit card debit
- Investment portfolio in-progress
I am nowhere near as far along as some of you and that’s how it is. If I had known more and found a blog like this that made me understand the importance, maybe it would be a closer race. But the important thing is that I’ve started and if you haven’t, GET TO IT!
What will I get out of this?
I have no idea. I hope that this will answer a lot of questions that you were worried about asking because it made you feel stupid.
I am not here to tell you what stocks to invest in, what course to take, how to make a million dollars over night or anything like that. I am a simple 20-something year old man who is not doing this for a living. I am doing this to help friends, family, and people who want to learn a bit more. I will talk about things that are brought to my attention, things that I’m trying out, and things that I fancy.
I hope that from the things I post here such as ideas, tips, mistakes, and more you can learn and grow along with me. If something changes, I will do my best to revise and change my opinion because we can do that! I can’t promise that this blog will make you money, (or me for that matter), but it will help you get the most bang for your buck and that’s almost like making you money.
